Peripheral Assignment

LCD Monitors

Friedrich Reinitzer was the first person who discovered the liquid crystalline nature of cholesterol extracted from carrots and published his findings at a Vienna Chemical Society meeting on May 3, 1888. He would not know it but his research and discovery would be the basis of the modern day LCD monitors and T.V’s.

NCR's John L. Janning invented liquid crystal displays in 1968 and his creation led to the LCD monitors in your homes.

The first active-matrix liquid crystal display panel was produced in the United States by T. Peter Brody in 1972. He was the first person who had sucessfully made a LCD monitor that worked and that would soon be distruputed to the public.
LCD monitors have been known as the new age of monitors. They are what made laptops possible because of their small, sleek apperaence and also who would want a CRT monitor as a laptop origional monitor. The LCD monitor has been produed to give a better picture than the previous CRT monitors, also the LCD screen has been transferred out of just the computer world. The LCD screen has been used for TV’s as well. The TV’s that have been made with a LCD screen have much better picture quality and are mich smaller that ordinary screens. The LCD screen laso have a high defination quality for both monitors and TV’s. In conclusion the LCD screen is a great invancement to the screens that we have been using for the past 20 years. I would really push the LCD screen so that everyone is able to get and affoard one so people can see the difference.
